The Motown sound is alive and thriving – and not just on your classic vinyl records. On Saturday, June 8, Mostly Motown takes the stage at The Palace Danbury and gives the music its own spin covering some of the most renowned Motown groups of the era, including music of The Four Tops, The Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye and The Jackson 5.
The young cast – no one is over 26 – of high-energy talent will sing and dance in this premier performance that promises to have the audience dancing in the streets as well as in the aisles. The cast of rising stars includes both New York and Connecticut residents:
Derek Adams of Monroe is coming off a year performing R&B at Universal Studios Japan. Locally, he has received acclaim for roles at both the Downtown Cabaret in Bridgeport and the Fairfield Theater Company. In addition to being on stage, he produces and directs the show.
Kyle Garvin hails from Bridgeport. His credits include national and international tours with Nickelodeon and PBS, as well as “Color Blind” (New York Musical Festival) and “Hairspray.”
Brennyn Lark of Norwalk was recently seen in the national tour of “Virtually Me.” She is recording live music and looks forward to a record contract soon.
Julia Hunter has been singing and sailing the high seas for several years with Norwegian Crusie Lines, and is happy to have landed in Danbury.
Brittney Mack has been performing with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and has a number of off-Broadway credits. She was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress (“Ain’t Misbehavin’”) by
BroadwayWorld.com and won a ZONI for best Supporting Actress (“All Shook Up”).
Michael Taglieri is a New York City-based singer, actor and pianist. His stage credits include performances in “Hair” (Seacoast Repertory Theater), “Hairspray” (North Shore Music Theater), and most recently in the national tour of “Clifford: The Big Red Dog.”
